15 Useful Business English Verbs Beginning with ‘Re’

In the spirit of Spring, this month’s upcoming Earth Day, and the relaunch of several courses in the Intrepid English Academy, we realised just how many English verbs there are beginning with ‘re’. This prefix means to repeat or do something again.

Today, let’s have a look at fifteen useful verbs which begin with ‘re’ which you may hear at work or in the office.

Refresh

Definition: To update or renew something to make it more current or appealing.
Example: “We refreshed the website’s design to improve the user experience and increase engagement.”

Rebuild

Definition: To construct something again after it has been damaged or destroyed.
Example: “After the system crash, the IT team had to rebuild the entire network infrastructure.”

Review

Definition: To examine or assess something, usually to make improvements or decisions.
Example: “Let’s review the proposal before we submit it to the client.”

Renew

Definition: To extend or restore something for another period of time.
Example: “We need to renew our software licenses before they expire next month.”

Reconsider

Definition: To think about something again, especially to change a previous decision or opinion.
Example: “After hearing the feedback, we decided to reconsider our marketing strategy for the upcoming quarter.”

Redo

Definition: To do something again, typically because it wasn’t done correctly the first time.
Example: “The client requested that we redo the presentation with updated data.”

Remodel

Definition: To change or improve the structure or design of something, especially a building or space.
Example: “We are remodeling the office next Spring to create more collaborative workspaces.”

Revisit

Definition: To return to or consider something again, often to make changes or updates.
Example: “Let’s revisit the budget proposal next week to see if we need to adjust the figures.”

Reschedule

Definition: To change the time or date of something.
Example: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to reschedule the meeting for next Wednesday.”

Revise

Definition: To make changes or improvements to something, often a document or plan.
Example: “I revised the contract based on the new terms agreed upon by both parties.”

Regroup

Definition: To come together again, often after a disruption, to plan or organize next steps.
Example: “After the project setbacks, the team decided to regroup and reassess the timeline.”

Reinstall

Definition: To install something again, typically software or a system.
Example: “The software crashed, so we had to reinstall the application on all workstations.”

Refine

Definition: To improve something by making small changes or adjustments.
Example: “The team has been refining the marketing campaign to target a more specific audience.”

Reorganise

Definition: To arrange or structure something differently for better efficiency or clarity.
Example: “The HR department is planning to reorganise the employee workflow to enhance productivity.”

Repurpose

Definition: To adapt something for a new use or purpose.
Example: “We decided to repurpose the old conference room into a brainstorming space for the creative team.”
